The iStarUSA BPU-350HD converts three standard 5.25" drive bays into five hot-swappable 3.5" SAS/SATA drive bays — one more drive slot than the BPU-340HD — for maximum storage density in space-constrained server, NAS, and workstation chassis. Supporting 12Gb/s SAS III and SATA III, it delivers full transfer rate performance for both spinning HDDs and solid-state drives in demanding storage environments. Hot-swap capability allows individual drives to be accessed, replaced, or added while the system remains powered on, minimizing downtime in production storage deployments.
The metal construction provides structural rigidity alongside passive heat dissipation and vibration resistance for stable long-term drive operation. The Black BPL variant adds locking bay doors for physical drive security — a useful feature for shared rack environments or deployments where drive tampering or accidental removal is a concern. Compatible with RAID configurations via an external RAID controller, the BPU-350HD supports high-availability and performance storage setups for enterprise, SMB, and prosumer applications.
