HPE Instant On AP22 vs AP25 vs AP32: Which Access Point Is Right for Your Business?

HPE Instant On AP22, AP25 and AP32: Which Wi-Fi fits your business?

Better business Wi-Fi starts with choosing the right access point. Should you choose the AP22, step up to the AP25, or explore Wi-Fi 6E with the AP32?

Each model serves a different need. Here is how they compare—and how to choose based on your devices, workload, and business environment.

The quick answer

AP22: Everyday office and retail Wi-Fi.

AP25: Busy spaces with more simultaneous devices.

AP32: Networks with compatible devices that can use 6 GHz.

*AP32 requires compatible clients to use 6 GHz and operates on two selected bands at a time. Suggested uses are buying guidance; actual performance depends on your network and environment.

EVERYDAY BUSINESS

AP22: A practical place to start

The AP22 combines Wi-Fi 6, 2×2 MIMO, and a Gigabit Ethernet uplink. It is a practical option to consider for everyday connectivity in small offices and shops.

Think about your busiest hour: how many devices are actively working, and which applications are they using? A few demanding video calls can matter more than a long list of mostly idle devices.

Choose AP22 if: You need everyday business Wi-Fi and want to match your purchase to your current requirements.

BUSY SHARED SPACES

AP25: Plan for more simultaneous activity

The AP25 adds 4×4 MIMO and a 2.5GbE uplink. HPE positions it for device-dense environments, making it worth evaluating for busy offices and shared guest areas.

Consider this model when staff and visitors regularly compete for wireless capacity. Review access point placement and your wired network alongside the hardware upgrade.

A 4×4 access point does not automatically make a 2×2 laptop twice as fast. Client capabilities and network conditions still affect the result.

Choose AP25 if: Your priority is supporting a busier shared network on Wi-Fi 6.

READY FOR 6 GHZ

AP32: Build around compatible devices

The AP32 offers Wi-Fi 6E, 2×2 MIMO, and a 2.5GbE uplink. Its distinguishing feature is access to the 6 GHz band for compatible devices.

Check the wireless specifications of your laptops and phones first. Wi-Fi 6 support alone does not mean a device can connect on 6 GHz.

A detail worth knowing: AP32 has two radios. It supports 2.4, 5, and 6 GHz, but you select which two bands operate. It does not broadcast all three simultaneously.

Choose AP32 if: You have compatible devices and a clear plan to use 6 GHz.

Find your business Wi-Fi fit

AAAWave buying guide: AP22 for everyday business, AP25 for busy shared spaces, and AP32 for 6 GHz-capable devices
Match your access point to your devices, workload, and network layout.

Four things to check before ordering

  1. Your layout. Consider walls, room placement, and coverage requirements. A higher model number does not guarantee better coverage in every space.
  2. Your switch. To use a 2.5GbE wired connection, the connected switch port must support that speed.
  3. Your power setup. Verify the exact SKU, compatible PoE supply, and included accessories before purchasing.
  4. Your busiest hour. Plan around active devices, application demands, and expected upgrades.
